Why did I receive a card with an EMV chip?
An EMV chip is encrypted and provides stronger security and protection against fraud. The chip securely stores your card information. Your new EMV chip card also has a magnetic stripe on the back of your card. The primary benefit of the EMV chip is preventing counterfeit fraud.
