How do I report a credit card as lost or stolen?

To have a new card sent to your address on file, follow the steps below. Or if you'd like to lock your card while you look for it, see: How do I lock or unlock my credit card?

When this process is completed, you will be given a new card number, expiration date, and security code.

To report your credit card as lost or stolen using online banking or the U.S. Bank Mobile App

  1. Online banking: From your dashboard, select the card in question.
    U.S. Bank Mobile App: Open the main menu, select Manage cards, then choose the card in question.

  2. Online banking: Select Card controls, then choose Lost or stolen card.
    U.S. Bank Mobile App: Select Report card lost or stolen.

  3. Select Lost, Stolen, or Never received, as applicable.
  4. Select the card to close and replace, then choose Continue.
  5. We'll lock your card. Select Continue.
  6. Enter the date your card went missing (or your best guess), then select Continue.
  7. Review the recent transactions. Choose:
    • Yes, continue if the transactions are yours.
    • No, I don't if you don't recognize them.
  8. Choose to keep your current PIN or have a new one mailed to you, then select Continue.
  9. If your card has design choices, you can choose Keep current design or Choose new design.
  10. Confirm your shipping details and select Continue if everything looks right. 
  11. Review the order details, then select Replace card

  • Recurring transactions generally continue being paid without interruption after the card number has changed. However, this is not guaranteed. If you have recurring transactions, we suggest letting those businesses know you have a new card number.
