American Banker has recognized U.S. Bank leaders in its 2021 Most Powerful Women in Banking and Finance, naming vice chairs Gunjan Kedia and Kate Quinn among 75 individual honorees and celebrating the standout accomplishments vice chair Jodi Richard made to the industry during an extraordinary year.
“The women on this list are at the forefront of significant changes across the financial services industry and in society more broadly,” said Bonnie McGeer, executive editor of American Banker and chair of the Most Powerful Women in Banking and Finance program. "They are leading reinvigorated efforts to increase diversity of all kinds in the senior ranks, concepting the future of work and helping central banks explore the idea of developing digital currencies, to name just a few of the many initiatives they have underway."
Kedia, a vice chair and member of the 14-person Managing Committee, is head of Wealth Management and Investment Services. In the role, she leads more than 8,000 employees and oversees one of the four core business lines at the company, which contributed $2.87 billion in net revenue last year. Kedia was named at number 14 on the Most Powerful Women in Finance list, the fourth consecutive year she has been honored.
Quinn, a vice chair and member of the Managing Committee, is chief administrative officer and head of Strategy, Transformation and Corporate Affairs. In the role, she leads more than 2,000 employees and oversees digital transformation efforts, customer experience, corporate strategy and more. Quinn was named at number nine on the Most Powerful Women in Banking list, the fifth consecutive year she has been honored.
Richard, a vice chair and member of the Managing Committee, is chief risk officer and leads the company’s Risk Management and Compliance organization. In this role, she leads 3,000 employees and is responsible for ensuring that U.S. Bank functions safely, securely and responsibly. She was included in a standout list of women that American Banker describes as having, “Specific types of roles that have taken on outsized importance over the last 12 months.”
