A COVID-19 Temporary Credit is given to customers that may have a negative balance when an Economic Impact Payment (EIP) (i.e., stimulus check) is deposited.
If you've received this credit, we've applied it temporarily to ensure you have full access to the EIP. It's listed in your transaction history as "COVID-19 Temporary Credit"
We send a notification advising of the following information:
- The date of the original credit.
- The amount of the original credit.
- The date the outstanding credit amount will be withdrawn from your account. You do have the option to pay this before the withdrawal date.
Additional information:
- The funds need to be repaid within 15 days from the original credit date. You can make partial or full payments during this time.
- If a withdrawal causes you to have insufficient funds, you'll be charged an overdraft fee. U.S. Bank will immediately refund that fee, if it occurs within the 15-day time frame.
