Mobile payments are a form of purchasing that allows U.S. Bank customers to use their card to make purchases with a phone or other compatible device. The mobile purchasing options available include Apple Pay®, Samsung Pay, and Google Pay™.
Mobile purchasing technology is growing rapidly and U.S. Bank is there every step of the way. In fact, we were the very first to offer a mobile payment solution for commercial card transactions. We want to make it as convenient as possible for you to use your card in any way you choose.
Whatever device you use, you can conveniently and securely pay for expenses on the go.
Mobile payment technologies use a combination of sophisticated software and hardware to ensure every purchase you make is protected. Below are some of the key security advantages of the most popular technologies—in addition to the 24-Hour Fraud Protection that customers receive automatically.

The biggest advantage of mobile payment is convenience. Using your mobile device to pay for expenses can save time normally spent pulling out a card from your wallet. It also offers the added convenience of using less cash to pay for out-of-pocket expenses. This can mitigate the security risks from carrying extra cash and also make expense reporting a little easier.
Typically merchants that accept mobile payments show one or all of these symbols at check out or on the card reader device:
Google Pay and Apple Pay require the merchant to have a newer terminal that will work with NFC-enabled phones. Samsung Pay allows you to make mobile purchases at both older and newer terminals, almost anywhere you can swipe your card.
Most new phones have the ability to make mobile payments using a payment app, like Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and Google Pay. The appropriate app for mobile payments is likely already loaded onto the phone if the functionality is available.
Yes. U.S. Bank has mobile payment functionality available now for U.S. Bank commercial cardholders. For more specific information about card compatibility, please contact your card program manager or commercial card relationship manager.
Each of the mobile purchasing options has their own technology for ensuring that your mobile purchases are secure, but one common method they all use is tokenization. When you add a card to a payments application (app), a unique number, or token, is generated to make a payment. This means your card number and personal information are never seen by merchants or stored on your device, which adds an extra layer of security. In many cases, this provides for a more secure and quicker transaction than using a physical card at checkout.
Based on some account conditions, additional authentication through the call center may be required.
A tokenized version of your physical card is saved to the wallet to improve security. The last 4 digits shown on the receipt are from the tokenized card.
There are a number of factors that affect the card art. The card art enabled for the U.S. Bank Corporate Travel Card for example, is the same for any client using the functionality at this time. In addition to the overall look, information that may normally display on a physical card is masked or intentionally left off of a digital image of the card for the sake of security.
The same restrictions that prevent certain purchases from being successful with a plastic card also apply when making mobile payments. Cardholders who experience a decline at the point of sale should contact Cardmember Services at 800-601-3842 to review the transaction.
