What is a brokerage fee?

In a brokerage account, you pay a fee or commission1 for stock and exchange-traded funds (ETFs)2 transactions (an amount charged to execute your trade), a markup/markdown for bond transactions (the difference between the market price and the amount you pay) and a sales charge or transaction fee for mutual fund transactions.

Corporate and municipal bonds

Transactions in corporate and municipal securities will be transacted on a principal basis and include a fair market mark-up or mark-down, which will be reflected in the execution price of the security.

Government securities and agencies

Primary Market U.S. Treasuries purchased directly at auction: $50 per transaction (bills, notes, & bonds).

Secondary market transactions in government and agency securities will be transacted on a principal basis and include a fair market mark-up or mark-down, which will be reflected in the execution price of the security.

Foreign securities

A clearing fee of $75 will be added to the underlying base commission (Canadian issues excluded) for any buy or sell transactions.

Load mutual funds/unit investment trusts

Subject to applicable sales charges and/or redemption fees as stated in the prospectus. Investors should consider an investment’s objectives, risks, charges and expenses before investing. Please read the prospectus before investing. Minimum purchase requirements vary.
